To get the Isle of Wight, just hop on a ferry at either Portsmouth or Southampton, there are two ferry operators Refunnel - sailing from Southampton to Cowes and Wightlink - sailing from Portsmouth to Fishbourne & Ryde. Both operators offer a fast passenger only service as well as a car service. There is also a Hovercraft service from Portsmouth.
We've listed below contact details for each, you can pre book with either online or over the phone availability can vary depending on the time of year, of course book early if you're travelling on a Bank Holiday or close to one of the many festivals and there are a quite a few! You can find a list theses events here although be sure to check dates with the event organisers.
